Shena Alcock was born in St. Boniface, Winnipeg MB in 1958. Art has always been a part of her life. Always willing to try a new medium, Shena has worked in acrylic, ink, watercolour, pigment liners, collage, stained glass, photography, silk, wool, clay, and coloured pencils. Important influences include Marc Chagal, Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso, Celtic art and her spiritual beliefs and perceptions. Shena enjoys playing with words and will often make use of puns to name her work.
Shena describes her art making as “a need that must be met in order to feel satisfied, while also giving power to tame the restless creature within”. Her creativity is “vital to her being, and how she perceives and translates the world around, and within her”. Shena plans on pursuing formal education in the fine arts.
