Winnipeg artist Michelle Hermary has been drawing since childhood. She studied at the University of Manitoba School of Art. She also studied graphic design at Red River Community College, and participated in Winnipeg Art Gallery classes. Michelle works in a variety of mediums including watercolour, pencil crayon, pencil, and mixed media. She says her work reflects the playful “cartoony” style of comic books and animation. She explores themes of wildlife, pagan religions and shamanism.
Michelle describes herself as a quirky person who laughs a lot and doesn’t take anything too seriously. She has adopted the bumblebee as her totem, because “for me, creative activity is a compulsion.”
