Marie LeBlanc was born in a small northern Manitoba town. She began doing art in childhood, ad later developed her skill as a poet and writer, and among many projects, wrote a gluten-free cookbook. Marie holds a BA (Advanced Major) in Human Geography and Sociology. She has a passion for alternative health care, and is a Certified Reflexologist and a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner. Community involvement and social justice are important issues for her and in 2012 she received the Canadian Mental Health Association Heroes of Mental Health Volunteer Award.
Marie’s art ranges from mixed media to performance art, and in recent years has focused on photography. Her photography produces views with unusual perspective, often layered over with clouds, ghost-like reflections, and traces of moving light. Marie’s themes include the cradle-to-grave life cycle and mental health.
