Elaine Penner was born in Teulon, Manitoba in 1970. After earning a Health Care Aide Diploma and a Hotel and Restaurant Administration Diploma at Red River Community College, she lived and worked in Banff, Alberta. In recent years she began painting landscapes in watercolour and acrylics.
During her residency at Artbeat, Elaine focused on abstract paintings, along with ceramic sculpture including flowers, angels, and animals. As well, she further developed her watercolour painting technique. Elaine names Monet as an artistic model, and says she has learned a lot from Artbeat colleagues. Elaine says, “I get inspiration from what others see in my paintings, which is sometimes different from what I’ve seen. But anything art-related works for me, leaves me calm and confident, and lets me express myself.”
